Duo with Seamus Cater

banjo/harmonica duo
2008-2011

This duo with British harmonica player Seamus Cater was formed in Spring 2008 while Sullender was working at STEIM in Amsterdam, where Cater now resides. The project resulted in the LP When We Get to Meeting as well as tours of the United States and Europe.

The pairing explores the intersections of English and American folk music, through a lens of contemporary musical approaches such as minimalism and spectralism. The result is a unique music invoking centuries of
folk and art practices, but rooted in the present moment.

"This is a refreshing take on the combination of folk and experimental musical modes and definitely deserves wider attention." -Charles Franklin, Foxy Digitalis
